Former Nebraska Cornhuskers Star Raises Massive Amounts of Money for Tornado Victims
Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers linebacker Will Compton and Barstool Sports created “Nebraska Strong” shirts to sell to raise money for those affected by the recent tornadoes that ripped through parts of Lincoln and Omaha, Neb.

Compton and Barstool announced today how much they raised to help those who had their lives destroyed by the tornado. While there were no deaths associated, many houses and livelihoods were flattened by the natural disaster.

Former Nebraska LB Will Compton raised tens of thousands of dollars

Compton took to social media to announce how much the “Nebraska Strong” effort raised. In his post, he claimed over $66,000 was raised.

Compton used the post to thank all those who donated and he said the money will be donated to four different tornado relief funds.

The Nebraska tornado was categorized as an EF3 by the National Weather Service

The natural disaster that ripped through parts of Lincoln and Omaha was officially rated an EF3 by the National Weather Service.

The tornado had 165 mph winds and completely flattened certain homes in the area.

Roger Slatton, who was personally affected by the storm, told his story to Fox Weather.

“And, we kind of heard the house pull a vacuum, and then all the windows blew, and then we could feel the floor separating from the foundation,” Roger said. “And we were kind of able to look at each other for just a second. And then it just took off.”

Will Compton is loved by Nebraska Cornhuskers fans

Through no fault of his own, Compton is not one of the best defenders to ever play for the Cornhuskers. The only reason for that is the Huskers’ legendary defensive past.

Compton is remembered fondly because he was one of the best defenders on his team during his era. He also parlayed his NFL career into an impressive career that lasted nearly a decade.

He used that NFL career to give himself a massive platform on his podcast with former Michigan Wolverines and Tennesse Titans tackle Taylor Lewan. His podcast, “Bussin’ with the Boys” has given Compton a platform to give out massive support for the Huskers despite the hard times they have fallen on as a program.

Nebraska fans weren’t happy with the nine-win teams of Compton’s era, and now they are clamoring to just go to a bowl game. Compton’s help and support to the victims of the natural disaster will just add to the love and support he receives from Husker fans.
