With so many members of the 2024 Chicago Cubs on the shelf, it has been hard to keep track. One name that may have been forgotten is third baseman Patrick Wisdom.
The 32-year-old hasn't made an appearance for the Cubs so far this season, but by all accounts, he's progressing in his rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa.

Known mainly for his power bat, Wisdom has been a mainstay on the Cubs since the 2020 season. As many members of the championship core moved on, Wisdom secured the starting third base job for a couple of seasons during the Cubs' latest rebuild.
As a result, he saw much action in the outfield. That may change when he makes his eventual return to the Cubs. On Tuesday, Wisdom was the Iowa Cubs' starting right fielder.

- RHP Jose Cuas has been added to the active roster
- Patrick Wisdom is continuing his MLB Rehab here and playing RF today for the first time this year.
Wisdom has played 22 games in RF over the course of his major/minor league career.
With so many key contributors out due to injuries, it makes sense to try some things with Wisdom's rehab assignment. If he can hold his own in the outfield, that versatility could prove valuable for the Cubs in light of Seiya Suzuki's absence.
Wisdom first went down in March when he developed a back issue that has lingered ever since. Garrett Cooper has benefited so far in Wisdom's absence after a strong Spring Training resulted in a bench role.
As Wisdom's bat has heated up in Triple-A, one can only hope that his return to the roster is right around the corner and he can contribute to a team that has been raked over the coals with injuries.
