MLB best bets: Three props for Wednesday 7/19

The strikeout market has caught our eye today with a trio of pitcher props for Wednesday's action on the diamond.

Cristopher Sanchez over 4.5 Ks (-105 DK)

Philadelphia's Cristopher Sanchez is toeing the rubber tonight against the Brewers, and there's quite a bit that points to a strong showing from the lefty.

For one thing, Milwaukee seriously struggles against lefty pitching. The Brewers strike out more often than any other team when facing LHP, and they also struggle to hit well, ranking as the fourth-worst team when it comes to batting lefties.

That suggests two things: Sanchez should pile up some Ks, and he should also be clear to work into the sixth inning against a team that isn't likely to jump on him early.

Sanchez has exceeded this strikeout mark in four of his six starts this year, including two straight at home.

Ryne Nelson under 3.5 Ks (-105 DK)

Arizona's Ryne Nelson could be on a short leash tonight, which is part of the reason we're fading him here despite a low line.

Nelson has allowed nine hits in back-to-back starts and subsequently has recorded just four total Ks across those appearances. Things don't figure to get easier tonight against Atlanta.

The Braves own the top OBP against righties, and are no-question-about-it one of the three best hitting teams when it comes to knocking RHP.

They also strike out at the ninth-lowest rate, all of which adds up to a rough and short outing from Nelson. When Nelson saw the Braves in June, he lasted just 4.2 innings, finishing with zero strikeouts.

Eduardo Rodriguez over 5.5 Ks (-120 MGM)

Eduardo Rodriguez has been piling up some strong starts for the Tigers this season, going over this 5.5 strikeout line in eight of his last 10 starts. You start to feel even better when you see that those two unders were both right at five Ks, giving us a solid floor to work with.

It should be another strong day for Rodriguez against the Royals. Kansas City is striking out at the seventh-highest rate against LHP, and the last time Rodriguez saw KC, he fanned nine.
