The positive news on the Washington Commanders' search for an offensive coordinator? The process will now include an interview with former Baltimore Ravens top aide Greg Roman, who has a host of credentials. ... as does Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who is also on this week's wish list.

The Commanders' negative news on their interest in Roman? That's two-fold ...

One, Roman has been available since January 19, when he "parted ways'' with Baltimore; why is he just coming onto the team’s radar now?

Two, his reputation as a run-first coordinator might fit in nicely with head coach Ron Rivera's philosophy - a philosophy that some believe is outdated. But Roman's commitment to the run has brought criticism to Baltimore, as highlighted by Robert Griffin III - the former Washington and Baltimore QB - who has said that receivers "absolutely hate'' Roman's offense ... and that the Ravens always had a hard time recruiting free agent pass-catchers for that reason.

Griffin did add, though, that "Greg Roman may be of the greatest run game tacticians I have ever been around.''

Washington fired coordinator Scott Turner last month and has since interviewed six candidates for the job, the delay in a final decision obviously due in part to the desire to visit with Bieniemy, who on Sunday helped Kansas City win the Super Bowl over the Eagles.
