Raheem Morris retains several from Arthur Smith’s Falcons staff
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Raheem Morris’ Falcons staff is coming together.

Over the weekend, the new Atlanta head coach added the most sought-after offensive coordinator candidate of the hiring cycle as well as retained several coaches from Arthur Smith’s staff.

Zac Robinson is joining Morris’ staff in Atlanta as the Falcons offensive coordinator, and Zach Klein reported last night that the Falcons are also keeping Dwayne Ledford, Michael Pitre, and T.J. Yates. Tom Pelissero also added that Marquice Williams would be staying on.

The Falcons were one of several teams interested in Robinson’s services; it’s clear that his relationship with Raheem Morris from their time in Los Angeles helped convince Robinson to follow him to Atlanta.

Dwayne Ledford is one of the best in business along the offensive line and was also a popular name this hiring cycle, but the Falcons ended up blocking the Giants from interviewing him for the same position in New York. Likewise, they blocked Brian Daboll’s Giants from interviewing Marquice Williams, who will remain in charge of Atlanta’s special teams under Raheem Morris.

Pitre and Yates coached the running backs and wide receivers, respectively, under Arthur Smith, so I would guess that’s where they will remain on Robinson’s offensive staff, but I could be wrong.

Raheem Morris still has a few more positions to fill, specifically the defensive coordinator, but it’s not as important as filling the offensive coordinator position because Morris will likely call the defensive plays.

In the coming days, the Falcons will likely have a complete coaching staff.
