Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov wins Art Ross Trophy

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov won the Art Ross Trophy for the 2023-24 regular season leading the NHL with 44 goals and 100 assists for 144 points in 81 games. Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon was second in points with a franchise record 140.

Kucherov became the fifth player in NHL history to record 100 assists in a single season this year.

This is Kucherov’s second Art Ross Trophy in his career so far. He last won the Art Ross Trophy in 2018-19, the same year he captured the Hart Trophy.

Kucherov finished the season with 41 multi-point games which included eight games that saw him register four or more points. The Bolts had the fifth-highest scoring offense netting 3.51 goals per game and tied with the Vancouver Canucks for the highest shooting percentage at 12%.

The Bolts had one of the most effective powerplay’s in the league convering at 28%. Kucherov led th eleague with 53 powerplay points.

The 30-year-old has captured two Stanley Cup championships with the Lightning and has tallied a whopping 320 goals and 553 assists for 873 points in 725 games with Tampa. Kucherov is one of two Lightning players, joining Martin St. Louis as the only two players in franchise history to lead the NHL in points twice.

Kucherov looks to lead the Bolts’ in the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs when they face off against the Florida Panthers. The puck drops for Game 1 of their series on Sunday.
